Cucurbita maxima
PUMPKIN-GOLDEN NUGGET boasts a bright orange or salmon colored, finely-ridged, dull skin. This variety is about the size of a small grapefruit & measures about 8 to 10 cm in diameter. The flavor of mature fruits is pleasantly sweet & buttery but does not offer its best flavor unless it has reached full maturity. This type of pumpkin is special because it is a bush variety – many varieties are trailing & can easily take over a small backyard. The Golden Nugget is a nice compact bush, & produces piles of small tasty pumpkins that will last for a very long time.
Direct sow into your garden. Plant these tender annuals outdoors, in full sun. Squash, even mini varieties are big feeders so plant them in rich garden soil. Mix in ample amounts of compost & manure prior to planting. Keep the soil moist but try to avoid watering the leaves. The seeds need a soil temp of about 20°C to germinate.

Seeds that we can’t grow ourselves we will acquire from people who grow for us, or we may purchase seeds from reputable heritage seed companies.
