TOMATO – PEAR-RED
Plants put out high yields of perfect pear-shaped tomatoes, an heirloom that Americans have enjoyed since Colonial times & likely existed before 1800. Attractive and tasty, the 2.5 – 5 cm long fruits are delicious in salads or roasted in the oven. The fruit typically weighs about 5g. The uniform, crack resistant fruit is produced all summer & keep producing right up until frost on productive vines that need to be staked. Climber.
Sow in a good mix of soil and lightly cover, keep moist but not wet. Transplant when seedlings achieve 4 – 6 leaves.
