CHILLI-GHOST had been the hottest chilli in the world with a SHU rating of 1,001,304, 170 times hotter than Tabasco sauce, till Carolina Reaper was produced. Now it is considered the spiciest chilli so excellent in curries, pickled or dried. And comes in various colours of red, white, yellow, orange, purple and chocolate. Originating from Northeastern India it is now found in many other countries. And is called by many different names, some being, Bhut Jolokia, Naga Jolokia, Bih jolokia, Nagahari, Raja Mircha, Raja chilli or Borbih just to confuse us all. it is a member of the nightshade family, Solanaceae, such as eggplant, tomatoes, and bell pepper, Capsicum annuum.
Seeds are often better started indoors to maintain temp of 24ﹾC, 8 to 10 weeks before the last front, under grow lights where possible. Long Germination period 35 days and harvest time up to 150 days. Full sun, well drained organically rich soil, with Soil Temp 26ﹾC to 32ﹾC. Keep moist but do not overwater. Plant out when roughly 15cm high. Pods grow from 5 to 10cm long and are prolific producers. The plants grow 1.2 meters high. Fertilize when planted then two more times during the growing season.
