Mirabilis Jalapa
FLOWER-MIRACLE OF PERU-4 O’CLOCKS are beautiful 5cm trumpet-shaped flowers in colors of red, pink, yellow, white & rose. The blooms that open in the afternoon & continue until the morning, on fast-growing bushy plants with a wonderful sweet smelling fragrance. Drought tolerant. You can’t exactly set your watch by the colorful four o’clock in your summer garden, but their timing is pretty good.
Sow seeds directly in the garden in spring or early summer, about 10-15cm apart, cover seeds lightly with soil and press gently. Water the soil to keep it moist for a week or two, until seeds germinate. Once seedlings are a few cms tall, thin them by removing extra plants so the remaining ones are at least 30cm apart. Pull weeds that sprout nearby, & apply mulch to control weeds & conserve soil moisture. Water during any period of summer drought. Four o’clock begin flowering in summer, & continue.
