Cosmos Asteraceae
FLOWER-COSMOS-SEA SHELLS is a tall, bushy cosmos, mostly noted for its unique flower form. They produce lovely, tubular-petalled blooms somewhat similar to a seashell in lovely pastel colors of white, pink & rose which are borne above the feathery foliage. These delicate, colorful flowers make an outstanding background planting that blooms all summer long. Cosmos are easy to grow & literally thrive on neglect! Grows to a height of 90cm & a spread of 63cm. Even though this is a half-hardy annual (meaning they will only last one year), if left go to seed, they will naturalize & become a year after year joy to your garden.

Cosmos is one of the easiest plants to grow. When you are ready to sow the seeds, you can either sprinkle the seed in shallow rows or simply scatter them randomly.

HOW TO GROW COSMOS-SEA SHELLS MIX

Cosmos-Sea Shells Mix is a cultivar of the flowering plant Cosmos bipinnatus, a popular annual bedding plant, known for its small, delicate and intricately shaped flowers that resemble sea shells. They are usually white or pink in colour, and bloom throughout the summer.

To grow Cosmos Sea Shells flowers, you will need to follow these general steps:

  1. Cosmos prefers full sun and well-draining soil.
  2. Sow Cosmos Sea Shells seeds directly in the garden after the last frost date in your area.
  3. Provide proper care of your Cosmos by regular watering  and fertilisation for them to thrive.  The best time to water your plants is when the soil is dry to the touch.  Fertilise them every 2-3 weeks with a balanced fertiliser.
  4. Pest such as aphids, whiteflies and spider mites, and diseases such as powdery mildew and blight need monitoring to prevent infestation of your plant. Use organic pest control methods if possible.
  5. Prune your plants as needed to maintain their shape and promote healthy growth. Pinch back the tips of the stems to encourage bushier growth.
  6. In colder climates, Cosmos Sea Shells may not survive the winter. Consider planting them as annuals or covering them with a thick layer of mulch to protect them from the cold.

Cosmos Sea Shells is generally considered an annual plant that will provide beautiful, delicate and intricately shaped flowers throughout the summer with proper care and maintenance. The Sea Shells variety is known for its unique and intricate flower shape, resembling sea shells and adds a touch of delicacy to any garden. They are also attractive to pollinators, such as bees and butterflies.
